ByteVoice ("ByteVoice", "we", "us", or "our") provides a macOS application and related services that let you talk to Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, and other tools instead of typing (collectively, the "Services"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard information when you download or use the Services.
By accessing or using the Services, you consent to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, please do not use the Services.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Account Information
When you sign in, we collect:
- Name, email address, and profile photo (via Firebase Authentication, including Google Sign-In)
- A unique account identifier used to associate your usage and subscription with your account
1.2 Voice and Text Content
To provide the core functionality of the Services, we process:
- Audio you dictate, transcribed into text
- Transcripts and prompts sent to your connected coding agents (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor)
- Slack messages you choose to have read aloud or reply to by voice
- Text generated for spoken summaries and agent status updates
We do not store the content of your dictation or agent conversations beyond what is needed to process the request; audio and transcripts are sent to our infrastructure and third-party model providers (see Section 4) solely to generate the requested output.
1.3 Billing Information
If you subscribe to ByteVoice Pro, our payment processor (Stripe) collects your payment card details directly. We never see or store your full card number.
1.4 Usage and Device Information
- App version, operating system, and device type
- Feature usage (words dictated, requests made, endpoints called) used to enforce plan limits and estimate cost
- Diagnostic and crash information
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide, operate, and maintain the Services
- To authenticate you and keep your account and subscription in sync across devices
- To process payments and manage your subscription plan
- To enforce usage limits associated with your plan
- To respond to support requests and send administrative or account-related communications
- To detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, and technical issues
- To improve the reliability, performance, and accuracy of the Services
3. How We Share Your Information
a. Service Providers
We share information with third parties who help us provide the Services:
- Firebase / Google Cloud (authentication and data storage)
- Stripe (payment processing)
- OpenAI and other model providers (transcription, dictation cleanup, and text generation)
- Slack (only when you connect your Slack workspace and choose to use Slack features)
b. Legal Compliance
We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of ByteVoice, our users, or others.
c. Business Transfers
Information may be transferred in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of some or all of our assets.
d. With Your Consent
We may share information for other purposes with your consent.
4. Third-Party Model Providers
Dictation, transcript cleanup, and generated replies are processed by third-party AI model providers under contractual terms that prohibit using your data to train their models. Audio and text are transmitted securely and are not retained by ByteVoice beyond what is needed to serve the request and maintain usage records for billing.
5. Your Choices and Rights
a. Access and Deletion
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your account information at any time by contacting us.
b. Sign Out
You can disconnect your Google account or sign out of ByteVoice at any time from the app or the account menu on our website.
c. California and Other Jurisdiction Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights to know what information we collect, request deletion, or object to certain processing. Contact us to exercise these rights.
6. Data Security
We use industry-standard measures, including encryption in transit, to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Data Retention
We retain account and billing information for as long as your account is active and as needed to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Usage summaries used for billing and plan enforcement are retained for recordkeeping purposes.
8. Children's Privacy
The Services are not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us to have it removed.
9. International Data Transfers
If you access the Services from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction. By using the Services, you consent to this transfer.
10. Third-Party Links
The Services may link to third-party websites or integrate with third-party tools (such as Slack, or the coding agents you connect). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised policy with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Services after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
12. Contact Us
